Which NPCs Should You Know?

Gyro can teach you Spin, while the Boom Boom family can turn your race into a three-on-one fight. Knowing which A Bizarre Run NPCs offer progression and which ones attack helps you prepare before leaving the lobby. Start with the tutorial boss, visit Gyro for his quest line, and watch for hostile encounters during Stage 2.

The main characters and encounters to recognize are:

  • Tutorial boss: The opponent you must defeat during the introductory combat lesson.
  • Gyro: The lobby NPC whose quest line unlocks Spin and its steel balls.
  • Boom Boom family: Three enemies who pursue nearby players after the first Stage 2 checkpoint.
  • Oya Kamova: A Stage 2 threat who causes explosions around the river area.

Their roles are different: Gyro gives you a technique to work toward, while the race encounters put pressure on your survival and positioning.

Defeating the Tutorial Boss

The combat tutorial introduces basic attacks, blocking, and abilities before asking you to defeat its boss. This encounter comes after the introductory race.

A Bizarre Run — Defeating the Tutorial Boss

Use the lesson to learn your controls before entering fights against other players:

  1. Bring out your Stand when prompted.
  2. Follow the instructions for basic attacks, blocking, and abilities.
  3. Defeat the tutorial boss to finish the combat lesson.

Pay attention to blocking rather than rushing through every prompt. Stage 2 combines player combat with NPC threats, so practice defending while the tutorial gives you room to learn.

Finding Gyro and Unlocking Spin

A Bizarre Run — Finding Gyro and Unlocking Spin

Gyro is in the lobby. Complete his quest line to unlock Spin, which lets you fight with two steel balls.

Visit him before entering another race if you want to pursue that fighting style. The lobby also offers quests for cash, but Gyro's quest line specifically leads to the Spin unlock.

What Changes When You Equip Spin?

Spin replaces your revolver with steel balls. You can throw them in combat or use them while riding to sabotage opponents. You have two, and they recharge over time.

The style includes these abilities:

  • Double Throw: A ranged attack that can also extend a close-range combo.
  • Kneel: An attack that can work in a short combo.
  • Steel Rush: A combo finisher that sends an opponent flying.
  • Steel Reversal: A counter for responding to an incoming attack.

Plan around the weapon replacement before racing. Use your throws carefully, since spending both steel balls leaves you waiting for them to recharge.

Surviving the Stage 2 NPC Encounters

Stage 2 adds hostile NPCs alongside player bounties, firearm combat, and dangerous terrain. Reaching a checkpoint does not mean the pressure is over.

Boom Boom Family

The Boom Boom family encounter happens after the first checkpoint. Following their cutscene, the three enemies chase the closest players, putting racers near the back of the pack in danger.

Keep moving after the encounter begins. Avoid lingering nearby to start another fight: taking on the family means dealing with three attackers while other racers continue toward the next checkpoint.

If you choose to fight them, account for all three enemies before committing to an attack. Focusing on one leaves the others free to pressure you.

Oya Kamova

Oya Kamova sabotages racers with explosions around the river area later in Stage 2.

Watch the route ahead as you approach the river. Avoid getting absorbed in a fight with another player while moving through the explosive hazards.

Keep these controls ready during the race:

  • T: Call your horse after falling off.
  • B: Bring out your Stand.
  • C: Pull out your secondary item.
  • Hold C: Choose your secondary item.

If an explosion throws you off your mount, call your horse and resume moving before nearby opponents can take advantage.
